Objectives

Diocesanas has four media libraries located in each of its four centres. Their names pay tribute to the different libraries that were very notorious in ancient times:

  • Sarajevo Multimedia Library: in honour of the ancient library of Bosnia, burnt down in by radical Serbs in order to get rid of the historical documents. It is situated in Diocesanas-Molinuevo.
  • Alexandria Multimedia Library: gets its name from the famous library Alexandria, the largest in the World in its day, where over 700,000 copies where held. It is situated in Diocesanas-Arriaga.
  • Ephesus Multimedia Library: inherits its name from the famous Turkish Library which existed in the 2nd century BC in Ephesus. It was one of the most important centres of information in the World. Located in Diocesanas-Nieves Cano.
  • Pergamon Multimedia Library: in homage to the library in Pergamon, the second most important of Ancient times, arriving a having more than 200,000 volumes. Located in Diocesanas-Mendizorrotza.

Diocesanas has an educational space fully integrated into the pedagogical job of the centre and that supports the process of teaching-apprenticeship.

The multimedia libraries aim to direct and advance in new educational proposals using new technologies and offering a better education, adapting to the needs of the future school.

The multimedia libraries allow:

  • to advance towards a more active way of teaching
  • to suit independent study and training for students
  • for the student to acquire the necessary abilities to use different sources of information
  • to facilitate the access and use of new technologies
  • to suit communication, the exchange of ideas and work material in a collaborative manner.
  • to compile and automate in a central manner all the material of the centre.

Rules of the Multimedia Library

The multimedia library is a service which is at the disposal of all students at Diocesanas registered in any of its four centres (Arriaga, Mendizorrotza, Nieves Cano and Molinuevo), each one having of these said locations having its own multimedia library.

The four multimedia libraries are governed by the same rules and operations, allowing for the consultation of their materials, taking them out on loan, using the computers... in the same way and with no difference between them.

2. ACQUISITION AND CATALOGUING OF MATERIAL

The acquisition of new materials will be subject to its prior sale authorization on the part of the centre management.

All new materials purchased with the centre’s funds will be, before their use, delivered to the multimedia library to carry out the tasks of registration, cataloguing, stamped, and covered.

Once these tasks have been carried out, they will be placed in the spot corresponding to their reference or borrowing.

Conditions of access 3. Borrowings and reservations Borrowing

All the material of the multimedia library can be borrowed except for the encyclopaedias, dictionaries, and atlases, which are exclusively for consulting in the multimedia library.

In certain circumstances, these materials will be exceptionally given on loan under the authorization of the person responsible of the multimedia library.

You must take into account that:

  • It is essential to present the multimedia library card in order to borrow material from the library.
  • The card must be kept in good condition (with the bar code legible, without bending or trimming the card)
  • The card is for personal use, if you lend it to another user, the person ultimately responsible for the loan will be the owner of the card which has been used.
  • You can request for the extension of a loan provided that there is not another user waiting to use it.
  • The users undertake to respect the period of loan indicated. If not, your right to the borrowing service will be restricted or cancelled.
  • In the case of lose or damage to any borrowed material, the user will have to replace it with a new one of the same characteristics.
  • Audiovisual material is loaned exclusively for private use, categorically forbidding its reproduction or diffusion in public.

The following materials for borrowing are considered restricted: Audiovisual material (videos, CDs, DVDs), magazines and transparencies. (the encyclopaedias and dictionaries are not available for borrowing, and can only be consulted in the multimedia library)

3. RESERVATION AND USE OF THE MULTIMEDIA LIBRARY

Teachers who wish to use the multimedia library to complement their classes, will have to reserve it in advance:

  • Requesting it from the person responsible for the multimedia library
  • Making a reservation on the Intranet and waiting for a confirmation of the reservation by email

Pupils who wish to make use of the multimedia library outside of school hours, to use the computers, consult material or for personal work, will have to bear in mind that:

  • Activities scheduled in advance have priority.
  • Group reservations have priority over personal work.

Access to the internet is restricted to its use as an educational resource. Its use outside the rules, depending on the seriousness or whether the offence is repeated, will restrict or cancel the right to access the service.

4. USE OF RESOURCES

Before using the resources in the multimedia library (camera, video camera, laptops, projectors...) you will have to:

  • Check its availability
  • Reserve it/them in advance
  • Check how to use it correctly
  • Report any incidence that occurs during its use
  • Return to its correct place within the shortest period of time possible.

5. RULES OF CONDUCT

Users are asked to:

  • Respect both the staff of the multimedia library as well as the other users
  • Work in silence (keep music players, mobile phones etc. turned off) in order not to disturb work of others
  • Use materials properly and respect the facilities
  • Not to bring food or drink into the multimedia library

All users of the multimedia library undertake to comply with these rules.

4:30pm - 9:10pm (Molinuevo multimedia library)
